Taking a significant step toward ensuring clean drinking water for Jorhat residents, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday performed the Bhumi Pujan for Rs 220 crore Jorhat Town Water Supply Project.

The project aims to provide uninterrupted clean water supply to all 19 wards of Jorhat town as well as the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) campus.
The project will source water from the Brahmaputra River, ensuring a steady and reliable supply to meet Jorhat town’s needs.
Speaking at the event, Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of the project in improving the quality of life for Jorhat residents and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing basic amenities across Assam.
“The water supply project will be fully automatic, so issues like water pressure or pipe leakages will be immediately detected and fixed. This is part of our broader vision to ensure access to basic amenities for all,” said the Chief Minister during his address.
