Assam Cabinet Gives Nod For 36 Public Holidays In 2025 With Seven New Additions

The Assam Cabinet has expanded the state government’s holiday list to 36 days, adding more cultural and regional festivals to the calendar.

Assam Cabinet Approves 36 Public Holidays For 2025

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the government has approved 36 holidays for state government employees in 2025, along with seven additional restricted holidays.

The approved holidays include various cultural and regional festivals such as Nuakhai Festival, Bir Raghab Moran Divas, Wangala Festival, Matak Raja Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha Divas, Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Birth Anniversary, Sati Radhika Utsav and Rongker Puja.

In addition, the restricted holiday for Ali-Aye-Ligang, the primary festival of the Mising community, will now be observed as a public holiday in 11 districts across the state.
