Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma Condemns Dhing Gang Rape, Calls It ‘Crime Against Humanity’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday condemned the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Nagaon district, calling it a “crime against humanity”. The horrific incident, which took place on Thursday evening, has sparked widespread outrage.

“The horrific incident at Dhing, involving a minor, is a crime against humanity and has struck our collective conscience. We will NOT SPARE anyone & BRING the perpetrators to JUSTICE,” Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on social media.

The Chief Minister directed Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh to visit the site and ensure rapid action against the perpetrators.

Local residents found the victim, a Class X student, in a semi-conscious state near a pond, lying without clothing for approximately an hour.

She was immediately rushed to Dhing First Referral Unit (FRU) for urgent medical attention. The girl was reportedly attacked while returning home from tuition between 7 pm and 8 pm.
