Assam Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anurag Goel announced that the final electoral roll for the upcoming by-elections in five assembly constituencies will be published on August 8. These seats have become vacant following the election of their MLAs to the Lok Sabha.

In a press conference held on Friday, Anurag Goel detailed the schedule and preparations for the by-elections, which are set to take place in the constituencies of Samaguri, Sidli, Dholai, Bongaigaon and Behali.
Goel emphasized that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated the preparatory work for the by-elections, which must be conducted within six months of the Lok Sabha election results announcement.
Further, he clarified that the elections would be conducted based on the pre-delimitation status of these constituencies.
