Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) decided not to publish a toppers list this year to ensure that the focus remained solely on education.

Speaking to media persons, Ranoj Pegu said, “The entire country is shifting to a more education-based focus instead of celebrations during exam results. We thought of doing a similar thing here as well.”
He said that the educational institutions in Assam should now focus more on education now that the results are out.
The Education Minister also added that the toppers list was not published so that others do not get demotivated.
He further added that from next year onwards, the AHSEC and the SEBA will be merged. The HSLC and HS exams would be held by one single board from next year, Ranoj Pegu said.
