Interim Bail For Arvind Kejriwal May Be Considered Due To Lok Sabha Polls: Supreme Court Tells ED

The Supreme Court on May 3 indicated that it may consider interim bail for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

“We may grant or we may not grant. But we must be open to you as neither side should be taken by surprise,” a bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta said.

The bench asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to come prepared for hearing on interim bail plea on May 7.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, days after the Lok Sabha elections schedule was announced and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody.
