Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on April 6 claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to amend Articles 371-A to 371-H, impacting Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Jairam Ramesh Alleges PM Modi’s Plan To Amend Northeastern States’ Articles
This comes after Union Home Minster Amit Shah criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his alleged verbal slip on Article 371 of the Indian Constitution.
Clarifying Kharge’s statement, Jairam Ramesh pointed out that it was a verbal slip by Kharge, who incorrectly stated that Modi claimed credit for abolishing Article 371, when he actually meant Article 370, following which Amit Shah criticized Kharge for his error.
Jairam Ramesh highlighted that Modi has expressed intentions to amend several provisions under Article 371, relating to different Northeastern states.
“Amit Shah got all excited and agitated because Kharge ji inadvertently exposed the Modi-Shah game plan on Article 371; now that they have gotten Article 370 out of the way,” he said.
