2024 Lok Sabha Polls: Assam Government Declares Localized Public Holidays On Polling Days

The Assam government announced that there will be public holidays in specific areas during the three-phase Lok Sabha polls in the state.

The notification, issued under the authority of the Governor, declared public holidays on April 19, April 26 and May 7 in areas where polling is scheduled on those dates, in accordance with the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881.

During the first phase on April 19, voting will take place in five areas: Jorhat, Sonitpur, Kaziranga, Lakhimpur, and Dibrugarh.The polls in Assam will be held in three phases – April 19, April 26 and May 7.

During the second phase on April 26, voting will take place in Diphu, Silchar, Karimganj, Darrang-Udalguri, and Nagaon.

Lastly, during the third phase on May 7, voting will take place in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, and Dhubri.
