The Chief Minister vehemently criticized the AIUDF, accusing them of endorsing the practice of child marriage and consistently opposing government efforts to combat this social menace.

Expressing frustration, he warned the Opposition to cease their involvement in arranging marriages for young girls and boys under the guise of child marriage.

CM Sarma asserted his unwavering stance, declaring that he would not permit the business of child marriage to thrive in Assam as long as he is alive.

“I categorically state that under my watch, child marriage will not be tolerated in Assam,” declared CM Sarma in the Assam Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister also issued a political challenge, affirming his determination to eradicate the practice before 2026.
