Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 18 said that the Assam government is the “most corrupt government” in India.

Addressing party workers at Haluwating in Sivasagar district, Rahul Gandhi slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideologue Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for “spreading hatred and looting public money”.

“Perhaps, the most corrupt government in India is in Assam. We will raise the issues of Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi added that Manipur is going through a situation similar to civil war. He launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur and “turning a blind eye towards the plight of the people” of the state.
