Hours after a tragic bus mishap in the Golaghat district, the Assam Police on January 3 issued stringent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all the picnic goers.
Dergaon Bus Mishap
14 people were killed and several people were critically injured after a bus carrying picnic goers collided with a coal-laden truck at Dergaon in the Golaghat district in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The bus with 45 people onboard was heading towards the famous Tilinga Mandir from Golaghat. Later, the bus crashed into an oncoming coal-laden truck at Balijan near Dergaon.
According to reports, ten people who died on the spot were pulled out from the wreckage including five women and a minor.
The injured people were immediately rushed to Dergaon Civil Hospital and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH). Two people succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
