Veteran Assamese actor Jayanta Das is no more. The actor breathed his last on December 16 at the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati. His enduring legacy of talent and laughter will always be remembered.
Jayanta Das Leaves Behind His Wife And One Daughter
Jayanta Das had been suffering from liver ailments and battling for his life for the last five days at the Intensive Care Unit of the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
Jayanta Das was popularly known for his role as Hemanta Kakoti in the Assamese TV serial ‘Bharaghar’ which made him a household figure. The actor won the hearts of the audience by acting in several films including ‘Jun Jole Kopalot’, ‘Nayak’, ‘Mon’, ‘Kadambari’, ‘Adomya’, ‘Adhinayak’, ‘Ramdhenu’ among others.
Taking to platform X, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of renowned actor Jayanta Das, who has been etched in the minds of the audience with his inimitable performances in various roles. His contribution to the field of acting for almost four decades will remain evergreen. May the departed soul rest in peace. I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and fans. Om Shanti.”
