Opposition Questions Reliability Of EVMs For Poll Debacle, BJP Fires Back

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 5 tore into the Opposition after Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh questioned the reliability of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), following his party’s defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh assembly elections.

Digvijaya Singh Raises Question Over EVMs

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister claimed that any machine with a chip can be hacked and added he has opposed voting by EVMs since 2003.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh said the Congress makes all these accusations only after facing defeat. “Congress won in Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka, but they did not talk about EVM then. Congress leader Pramod Krishna rightly said, ‘If you insult Sanatan, this will be the fate of Congress’. This is not INDIA alliance but an alliance of arrogance. It is certain to fall apart,” said Giriraj Singh.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded ballot paper election. “Democracy will be strong only when it operates like it does in America and Japan. There, the counting of votes takes months. If someone casts a vote for a month, counting also takes a month. If America and Japan have a system of ballot paper, then we should adopt it too,” said Akhilesh Yadav.
