Mizo National Front (MNF) leader and Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has lost from the Aizawl East 1 seat.

Zoramthanga lost the elections by 2,108 votes to his rival Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) candidate Lalthansanga who won the contest with a total of 8,472.
Currently, MNF is leading in ten seats, while ZPM has taken a massive lead in 26 seats, putting them in a comfortable position to form the next government in Mizoram.
A total of 174 candidates, including 18 women, were in the fray in the 40-member Mizoram Assembly. A party needs to cross the halfway mark of 21 to form a government in the state. The Congress, once a dominant force in Mizoram, had been given only 2-4 seats in the exit polls.
