Border Areas In Mizoram On High Alert After Gunfight Between Myanmar Army, Rebel Outfits

The India-Myanmar border areas in Mizoram are on high alert following gunfights between Myanmar army and rebel outfits which has resulted in several hundred Myanmar nationals residing close to the border entering the Indian side seeking refuge.

High Alert Sounded By Authorities In Mizoram’s Champhai District 

Heavy gunfights have been reported from areas along Mizoram across the international border in Myanmar since November 12.

High alert was sounded by authorities in Mizoram’s Champhai district following the gunfights between Myanmar army and rebel outfits.

Reportedly, the gunfights took place between Myanmar army and cadres of Chinland Defence Force (CDF).

“Fighting started on Sunday evening. It continued through the night and ended early on Monday morning. There are also reports of bombing close to the international border, but there’s no damage on the Indian side,” said James Lalrinchhana, Deputy Commissioner of Champhai.
