ISRO Gearing Up To Reawaken Chandrayaan-3 Mission’s Lander And Rover Modules

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists are now gearing up to reawaken the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s lander and rover modules, Vikram and Pragyan.

Sunlight Has Returned To Shiv Shakti Point At South Polar Region Of Moon

The lunar night sees temperatures drop drastically, making it immensely colder than Antarctic winters; however, ISRO scientists have been ardently working to ensure the successful revival of the modules.

The Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover were put into sleep mode before the lunar sunset. Powered by sunlight, their batteries were left charged. Their solar panels were oriented in a way that they receive light at dawn.

ISRO Chairman S. Somanath said that they are hoping when the sun rises on the Shiv Shakti Point, where lander and rover are parked, the equipment will come back to life. “We can only hope to see the equipment back to life on September 22,” Somanath said.
