Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 1 hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming a committee to look after the issue of ‘one nation, one election’ headed by former President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

The Chief Minister said he is happy that a person of the stature of Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the offer of Modi.
”Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a very landmark decision by appointing a commission to look after to look after the issue of one nation one election. I am glad and I am very happy that a person of the stature like Shri Ram Nath Kovind has taken the decision or he has accepted the offer of the Prime Minister,” Sarma said.
”Multiple elections in India involve a lot of money as often India is in an election mood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has correctly realized and is advocating that one national and one election will take India to a different level which will help in the reduction of expenditure and development throughout the five years,” he added.
