BJP MLA’s ‘Manipur Doesn’t Matter To Anyone’ Remark Stirs Row

Delhi BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht on August 17 stirred row after he reportedly said “Manipur doesn’t matter to anyone”.

‘Manipur Doesn’t Matter To Anyone’, Says BJP MLA

Mohan Singh Bisht made this statement inside the Delhi assembly. This remark by the BJP MLA sparked a chaos in the assembly, following which at least four legislators of the BJP were marshalled out of the House.

Durgesh Pathak, an MLA of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, started a short duration discussion on Manipur violence. The BJP MLAs were quick to rise in protest against any discussion in the assembly relating to Manipur violence.

They argued that the Delhi assembly should only discuss issues related to the union territory. “The Uttar Pradesh assembly also discussed Manipur issue,” Delhi deputy speaker Rakhi Birla said.

Rakhi Birla cited the example of Uttar Pradesh assembly, following the protest by the BJP MLAs, where the Manipur issue was discussed.
