Ferry Services Between Majuli, Jorhat Suspended Again

Ferry services between Majuli and Jorhat were suspended again on August 8 due to the rising water levels in the Brahmaputra River.

Brahmaputra River Flowing Above Danger Levels

The Inland Water Transport Department (IWTD) made the decision in the wake of the water level of the Brahmaputra River rising above danger levels.

According to the daily flood report released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on August 7, the Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger levels, while no other river in the state is flowing above the highest flood level.

According to the report, three revenue circles in Dhemaji and Dibrugarh districts still remain affected by the floods. No human lives were lost and no person was reported missing in the last 24 hours.

Incidents of erosion were reported from Chapar, Tengakhat, Bihpuria, Laharighat, and Barkhetri. A landslide was reported in Haflong in the last 24 hours, the report further said.
