Manipur: State Government To Convene Assembly Session From August 21

The Government of Manipur has decided to convene an Assembly session from August 21. It is to be mentioned here various groups are demanding special session of the Assembly.

Manipur Assembly Session To Begin On August 21

According to an official, the state cabinet has recommended Governor Anusuiya Uikey for summoning the 4th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 21.

On July 26, the Congress legislature party led by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh met the Governor and demanded to convene a special session of the state assembly under Article 174 (1) of the Constitution.

The ongoing ethnic violence in the state and related issues would be discussed in the session. Notably, ten tribal MLAs have been demanding separate administrations (equivalent to separate state) for the tribals since May 12.
