Nameri National Park: Two Tiger Poachers Arrested

Two more people were arrested in connection with the poaching of a Royal Bengal Tiger at Nameri National Park in Sonitpur district, reports emerged.

The accused duo was identified as Uda Basumatary and Kanai Daimary. Total number of people arrested in connection with the case has reached seven.

The tiger they had poached was suspected to be a rescued tiger. The Royal Bengal Tiger was rescued from the Umananda Island in Guwahati last year.

Earlier, in July, a police team seized a tiger’s skin and bones at Itakhola. The Assam Forest Department recovered handmade guns from a house belonging to one of the prime accused.
