Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been given three-year jail sentence in connection with a corruption case.

Imran Khan Barred From Politics For 5 Years

Apart from the sentence, the former Pakistan Prime Minister has been barred from participating in active politics for five years.

Imran Khan was found guilty of illegally selling gifts he received from foreign dignitaries during his term as Prime Minister.

His tenure as Prime Minister was cut short when opponents won a no-confidence vote against Khan last year. The 70-year-old politician has denied any wrongdoing and his legal team said they would be filing an immediate appeal.

Imran Khan alleged that the no-confidence vote was passed with the help of the country’s powerful military, however, the military denies. An Islamabad trial court on August 5 declared Imran Khan guilty of “corrupt practices” in Toshakhana corruption case.
