As many as eight assailants broke into the house of an aged woman and sexually assaulted her along with her daughter. The incident took place earlier, it only came to the fore on July 4. The daughter is reportedly differently-abled, she cannot speak.
The Incident Did Not Come To Fore Immediately
Reportedly, the assailants went on to smear chilli powder on the private parts of both mother and daughter. The incident took place on May 17 in Satgaon locality of Guwahati. Four of the accused have been arrested as four others remain absconding with the police hot on their trails. The daughter had been living with her mother in at her residence in Taltala after her marriage fell apart.
A man named Arun Pradhan tried to entice the mother into a romantic relationship. This relationship, however, was not accepted by the family of Pradhan which led to strife between both families. Amit Pradhan, the son of Arun Pradhan, along with seven others broke into the house of the victims and carried on with their heinous act.
The neighbours lodged a complaint at the Satgaon Police Station after learning about the incident. Satgaon Police registered a case numbered 92/23 with charges under sections 456, 294, 354 and 354 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiated an investigation regarding the matter.
