One person has been arrested in Tezpur under Sonitpur district for posing as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district on June 26.
One Arrested For Allegedly Posing As SI In February
The accused has been identified as Ankur Saikia. According to sources, the person was extorting money from several people posing as DC of the district.
The Police arrested a 10-member team including escort in connection with the incident. The present DC of Sonitpur district is Deba Kumar Mishra.
Earlier in February, one person was apprehended in Tezpur for allegedly posing as a police official. The person posed as a Sub-Inspector (SI) and also carried a fake pistol.
The accused was identified as Himangshu Kalita of Tezpur. Kalita was caught by local people at Mission Chariali area while posing as a policeman and handed over to Tezpur Police.
