25 Crore People Expected To Participate In International Yoga Day Celebration: Sarbananda Sonowal

Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal on June 17 said that the International Yoga Day has received a tremendous response from the public. At least 25 crore people are expected to join this year’s celebrations on June 21.

International Yoga Day Celebration

The global celebration will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The national celebration will be led by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

It was Narendra Modi who urged the United Nations to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day at the same venue in 2014. ”As we move closer to the International Yoga Day, we are taking the celebration of Yoga, one of the greatest gifts of India’s rich heritage to humanity, to another level this year,” Sonowal said.

This year’s motto is ”Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The world is one family). ”I sincerely hope through the practice of Yoga the global community is able to find solutions to various current health challenges,” Sonowal added.

There will be several special events this year like Yoga Bharatmala wherein Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force along with ITBP, BSF and BRO will make a chain of Yoga demonstration in unison.
