Massive Landslide On National Highway 6, The Main Connectivity To The State Of Mizoram

Heavy rains have triggered a massive landslide on the National Highway 6 which is the main connectivity to the state of Mizoram from the rest of the country.

The exact location of the massive landslide is said to be Hunthar. The landslide has put a halt on the transportation of essential commodities to the state.

The authorities have started clearing the debris to make way for vehicles through this route. The authorities have mentioned that the Sakawrtuichhun-Sairang Road is open for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and below.

It is mentioned the water levels have increased rapidly in the Brahmaputra River due to the recent rains. The Biswanath region has seen massive soil erosion.

Meanwhile, the damages to the Panpur embankment by soil erosion have put the regions of Biswanath, Sootea and Jamugurihaat at risk of flooding.
