Kipgen is the state’s industry minister and one of ten Kuki MLAs who have called for a separate administration.

The burning down of a Minister’s residence is a new act of violence that occurs as an ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups in the state persists.

Miscreants opened fire and set arson attacks in the Kangpokpi district’s Khamenlok village on June 13, leaving a total of 9 people dead and 9 injured.

Reportedly, numerous houses were burned down in the village of Khamenlok. Several people were hurt in the Gobajang neighbourhood of the Tamenglong district.
