Notably, the employees are being laid off from Web Services, Human Resources and Support department. Amazon is one of the many brands which have laid off large parts of their workforce.

A decrease in the Indian online shopping trends has also been termed as a major reason for the layoffs. The first round of layoffs took place at the beginning of the year. Moreover, several other brands including Meta, Microsoft and Alphabet also laid off a large part of their workforce.

Amazon had first announced in January that it would lay off approximately 18,000 employees following the decline of tech stocks across the globe. Reportedly, the company’s e-commerce business in the country has experienced a slowdown in growth.
