Violence-Hit Manipur: Curfew Imposed By State Administration Following Clashes Relaxed

People were seen thronging markets in large numbers on May 10 since curfew has been relaxed in violence-hit Manipur. The curfew that was imposed following clashes between tribal groups and Meiteis in Churachandpur was relaxed on May 9.

It is mentioned people in large numbers flocked to the Ima Market, Manipur’s women-run market to buy essentials.

People were seen queuing up since 6 am. Curfew has been relaxed in all the 11 districts where it was clamped, officials said on May 9.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the people to bring peace and calm following ethnic violence that claimed around 60 lives.

According to the police report, the curfew imposed in Imphal City has been relaxed in the morning hours from 5:00 am to 11:00 am starting, May 10, 2023, as the law and order situation in the area has improved.
