Explosion Occurred Near Golden Temple In Amritsar; No Fatalities Reported

The third explosion occurred in the early morning hours near Sri Guru Ram Dass Niwas, near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. However, no fatalities have been reported so far.

Five people involved in the incident were apprehended by the Punjab Police. According to Punjab Police, their motive was to disturb the peace.

According to a local police source, explosives used in firecrackers were used in the blast. Notably, this is the third explosion in less than a week.

The new blast comes after two blasts on May 6 and May 8, both near Amritsar Golden Temple. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Punjab Police are probing the event and have collected forensic samples from the site.

HS Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), criticized the Punjab Government’s failure, saying, ”I can state that it is a total failure of the administration.”

It is mentioned the first explosion occurred on May 6 in a heritage street near the Golden Temple, followed by a second blast within 30 hours in the same area.
