West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on May 8 said that the newly released ‘The Kerala Story‘ will be banned in the state.

The Kerala Story Will Be Banned In West Bengal

”This is to avoid any incident of hatred and violence, and to maintain peace in the state,” said Mamata Banerjee.

”What is ‘The Kashmir Files’? It is to humiliate one section. What is ‘The Kerala Story’? It is a distorted story,” Mamata Banerjee added.

Citing law and order concerns and a lack of audience response, many theatres across Tamil Nadu have cancelled screenings of the movie.

Madhya Pradesh has declared that the movie will be tax-free in the state. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister Brajesh Pathak stated that the state will not resist any request to grant comparable status.

It is to note The Kerala Story is about the women who went missing from Kerala and later joined ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) after being compelled to convert to Islam. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the movie stars Adah Sharma.
