WhatsApp Bans Over 47 Lakh Accounts In India In March 2023: Report

Meta-owned Whatsapp has announced that the company has banned over 47 lakh accounts in India for malicious behaviour. It is mentioned this information came in the Monthy India Report published by the Meta-owned brand for the month of May.

This Monthly India Report contains details of the user complaints received and the corresponding actions being taken by the company.

The report highlights the preventive actions being taken by the company in order to prevent abuse on the platform for spreading malicious content.

Reportedly, out of the total 4715906 banned accounts, 1656385 were proactively banned before any user reported them. These accounts were banned between March 1 and March 31, 2023.

Over the years, we have consistently invested in Artificial Intelligence and other state-of-the-art technology, data scientists and experts, and in processes, in order to keep our users safe on our platform,” mentioned a spokesperson.
