9 Apprehended For Risky Automobile Stunt In Dhemaji, Assam

A group of nine teenagers were held by Police after their Instagram video of a risky automobile stunt on NH-15 in Dhemaji on March 28 went viral on online platforms.

As per the inputs, the district transportation officers assessed the teens a 37,000-rupee fine.

According to Dhemaji District Transport Officer Angikar Buragohain, the teens have been charged under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 with “disobedience of orders of authorities,” “racing and trails of speed,” and “driving dangerously”.

He further added, ”The offence of underage driving would also be dealt with appropriately upon the production of the driver’s name and evidence of age. One Banamali Saikia, whose son was among the group, has been recognised as the car’s owner.”

“They performed the act near Kulajan, which is around 15 kilometres from the Bogibeel Bridge. Several onlookers captured their stunt on camera and posted it to social media. When the video was discovered, police acted swiftly and located the youths on Wednesday,” he continued.
