Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao: 8 Detained Over Posters Against Narendra Modi In Ahmedabad

Eight people were detained on March 31 in Ahmedabad in relation to ”Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao” posters after the Delhi Police detained six people as they were bringing identical materials to Aam Aadmi Party headquarters.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal compared the police activity there to censorship under British rule. ”The eight people were detained for putting up the posters without a permit,” the Gujarat Police said in a statement.

The Press and Registration of Books Act’s Section 12 and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act’s Section 3 were the legal grounds for the earlier registration of the cases involving the Delhi posters.

The arrests were a “direct assault on India’s democratic framework,” the AAP said in a statement. The AAP escalated its poster campaign against the Prime Minister on Thursday.
