Indian-American businessman Ajay Banga will likely succeed as World Bank President after the nomination process ended and no other country proposed an alternate candidate.
Ajay Banga Set To Head World Bank
In February, President Joseph Biden declared the United States would nominate Ajay Banga to manage the World Bank because he is “well suited” to serve as the head.
Ajay Banga will succeed current president David Malpass. David Malpass announced his plans to step down in February this year.
The 63-year-old earlier held the post of President and Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard for 11 years. Ajay Banga was felicitated with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in the field of trade and industry in 2016.
