The prices of 384 critical medications and more than 1,000 formulations are expected to increase by more than 11% due to a significant increase in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI).

Consumers will have to pay extra for essential medications, such as painkillers, antibiotics, and anti-infection medications.
It is mentioned the National List of Essential Medicines’ (NLEM) annual price increases are based on the Wholesale Price Index.
As per the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the Wholesale Price Index changed by 10.7% last year.
According to the Pharmaceuticals (Price Control) Order, 2013 (DPCO), the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority publishes an update to the Wholesale Price Index each year.
