Assam: Teenage Boys Rescue Rare Yellow-Footed Tortoise

Three young boys in Assam have earned respect and recognition from the nature enthusiasts since they have rescued a rare yellow-footed tortoise weighed around 2 kilos.

The teenage boys named Rahul Krow, Hirakjyoti Nath and Jintu Teron are students of classes ten, nine and eight respectively.

They belong to Khalihamari village of the Nagaon district. They reportedly sighted the rare tortoise in the fields adjacent to their home.

They later released it into the Kopili river. In this regard, local people said, ”The river and the adjoining areas are the natural habitats for the animal.”
