To reduce the challenges of climate-related disasters and improve integrated water resources management, the World Bank is supporting Assam with a long-term programme.
World Bank To Support Assam
It is mentioned the Centre and the Assam Government had requested US$500 million in financing from the World Bank for a 10-year programme.
Notably, the World Bank’s Executive Board of Directors approved a $108 million loan in the first phase. The project is part of a larger $500 million investment program for the state.
The first phase of this project will end in 2027, the second phase in 2030, and the third phase in 2033.
The project will enable the state to better adapt to the impacts of climate change. It aims to build the needed support systems for climate-resilient planning.
