On March 21, excise officials shut down a factory used for illegal purposes in Rani, on the outskirts of Guwahati. It needs to be mentioned Priyancy Industries was used as a storage facility for illegally obtained spirits from Bhutan.

A small number of unscrupulous excise inspectors at lower levels were involved in it, reports said.
Notably, the raid was conducted on March 21 by a group of tax officers led by Excise Officer Manavi Das. Furthermore, the Department held two traders and recovered 25 litres of illicit alcohol.
“The corporation used to sell the spirits under its name and logo after adding chemicals to them. There are many uses for this energy,” stated the Excise Officer.
