Indian Army Rescues Over 1,000 Stranded Tourists In East Sikkim

Indian Army rescued over 1,000 tourists, including women and children. Notably, the tourists were stranded at Chhangu in the upper reaches of East Sikkim.

As per the officials, severe snowfall in Natu La, Tsomgo (Chhangu) Lake and adjoining areas on March 15 brought down the temperature to sub-zero levels.

According to an official release, the Army personnel deployed in the area launched a rescue effort. Furthermore, following an over eight-hour operation, the stranded tourists were shifted to safety.

“All the tourists were provided with accommodation, hot meals, warm clothing and critical medical support,” it further added.
