Assam: Man Gets 7-Year Jail Term For Involvement In Terrorist Activities

On March 15, a man from Assam was given a 7-year jail term for involvement in terrorist activities by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Bengaluru.

The man named Arif Hussain is required to pay a fine of Rs 53,000. Notably, Arif Hussain was detained on suspicion of having ties to Jamaat-e-Islami and Muhideen Bangladesh in 2020.

In this regard, Special Public Prosecutor P. Prasanna Kumar informed Arif Hussain was a part of a JMB-initiated plot to produce explosive devices.

“Together with 13 other JMB members, Arif Hussain, a specialist in IED creation, was working out of several hideouts in and around Bengaluru. Hussain provided instruction to his fellow alleged terrorists,” NIA declared.
