The GMC on March 14 destroyed buildings and private barriers that had been constructed by reportedly intruding on Bahini River. In this regard, Mriganka Choudhury, GMC Joint Commissioner, stated the job of demolishing 26 bridges has been accelerated in order to meet the deadline.

It is mentioned multiple unauthorised buildings were destroyed in Beltola region on March 14.
“The demolition drive was successfully completed, and we encountered no public opposition. If we want to protect the citizens of the city from manufactured floods, Bahini’s depth and width must be returned to their former dimensions,” the Joint Commissioner said.
”The river in the Rukminigaon neighbourhood close to the Guwahati-Shillong Road has been significantly encroached upon,” he further added.
