Assam Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta on March 15 informed the House Guwahati is in the 35th position in the world today for pollution. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was 329.
Mission LiFE
Keshab Mahanta further added the Assam Government took various measures to check pollution in the state.
“On March 21, 2023, the Chief Minister will launch Mission LiFE in the state. Mission LiFE is designed with the objective of mobilizing at least one billion Indians and other global citizens to take individual and collective action for protecting and preserving the environment in the period 2022–2027. The mission has already been launched in several states in India,” Mahanta continued.
”Today, there is a need for all of us to come together and take Lifestyle For Environment forward as a campaign. This can become a mass movement towards an environmentally conscious lifestyle,” Mahanta concluded.
It needs to be mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the concept of LiFE at COP26 in Glasgow on November 20, 2021.
