Assam Police have saved two gibbons and detained two people in relation to the incident in Karbi Anglong. It is mentioned the gibbons were saved after an interception of a truck in Bokajan on March 5.

As per the authorities, the truck was allegedly transporting the gibbons from Manipur through Karbi Anglong.
Mohammad Waris and Naowa Meitei have been detained in relation to the incident. The gibbons were turned over to the forest department, stated the Police officials.
Threatened species were saved from the clutches of smugglers in Guwahati last month. It is noted one tiger cub and two golden jackals were recovered from the Kamakhya Railway Station.
