SpiceJet brings in only-stop flights between Delhi and Shillong. It is mentioned the airline and the Meghalaya Transport Corporation signed a contract in the last month.

The inaugural flight took off with 18 passengers aboard on February 24. It is noted flights will run on Mondays and Fridays, twice a week.

Significantly, the new service is one of the longest Dash 8-Q400 routes in the world. In this regard, Shilpa Bhatia, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer said, “We are thrilled to add Shillong to our network. With its beautiful scenery and breathtaking geography, Meghalaya is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the North-east, and the state has a great deal of potential for increased tourism.”

Notably, there are only three airlines operating at Shillong Airport. The three airlines are SpiceJet, Alliance Air and IndiGo.
