Parag Kumar Das is considered as one of the prominent journalists of Assam. He is a true inspiration for the youth of the state. His unpretentious nature is something we can celebrate today.

It is mentioned Parag Kumar Das was the former editor of largest circulation daily in Assam, Asomiya Pratidin. Moreover, Das was one of the founders of human rights movement in the state.
Notably, Das started his journalism in Prantik and The Sentinel in the late 80s. He launched an Assamese weekly named Boodhbar (English: Wednesday) in 1989. Das launched another Assamese magazine named Agaan (English: Steps) in 1994.
Unfortunately, on May 17, 1996, Das was shot in the state capital, Guwahati. He was shot at least eight times. Nevertheless, his contribution towards the field of journalism will be irreplaceble. His strong morals will always be remembered.
