Special NIA Court Reopens Anti-CAA Case Against Akhil Gogoi; Read To Know More

The Special NIA Court reopens anti-CAA case against Assam Legislator Akhil Gogoi and his three companions on February 23 following a decision from the Gauhati High Court. It needs to be mentioned Special NIA Judge Pranjal Das postponed the hearing and scheduled the case for February 28.

NIA Reopens A Case Against Akhil Gogoi

His followers gathered outside the courthouse. It is noted the National Investigation Agency was able to file charges against the leader and his three companions on February 9 after the permission from the Gauhati High Court.

The three companions named Dhaijya Konwar, Bittu Sonowal, and Manash Konwar had been granted bail in the NIA case. Notably, Akhil Gogoi was the only person whose bail was denied by the court.

Significantly, the Special NIA Court was looking into two incidents of anti-CAA violence involving Akhil Gogoi. Gogoi and his three companions were freed by the NIA Court on July 1, 2021.
