It is noted the apex organisation of the women of the Chakhesang tribe, the Chakhesang Mother’s Association has set up the checkposts in the Chetheba region of the Phek district.

They order the drivers entering the locality to stop in a polite way. Notably, Nagaland is a dry state. However, the state has seen the capture of alcohol since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect.

“Despite our best efforts, liquor still manages to flow through. One of the ways they do this is by coming late at night and just before reaching the checkpost, they go through the jungles on foot,” the Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland stated.
