Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra reached Majuli in Assam on January 19 amid verbal jibes between Congress leaders and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Reaches Majuli
The Assam leg of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra reached Majuli on its sixth day on January 19. Rahul Gandhi resumed the Yatra from Nimatighat on the morning of January 19 and reached at Opholamukh around 10:20 am, from where they proceeded towards Kamalabari.
He visited Auniati Satra and Kamalabari Satra before coming to Garmurh centre, where they were felicitated by the residents of Majuli.
Rahul Gandhi, dressed in a white ‘dhoti’ with a traditional Assamese scarf called ‘gamusa’ around his neck, was accompanied by party leaders as they visited Auniati Satra and interacted with the head of the monastery, Satradhikar Pitambar Dev Goswami.
The Yatra reached Jengraimukh, where Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, MP Gaurav Gogoi and Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah addressed a press conference.
