Sahitya Akademi Award 2023: Assamese Author Pranavjyoti Deka Bags Prestigious Gong For ‘Dr. Pranavjyoti Dekar Shrestha Galpa’

The Sahitya Akademi has announced its annual Sahitya Akademi Awards in 24 languages on December 20.

Nine books of poetry, six of novel, five of short stories, three of essays and one of literary study have won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2023.

The awards were recommended by a panel of distinguished jury members in 24 Indian languages and were approved by the Executive Board of the Sahitya Akedemi which met on December 20 under the chairmanship of Sahitya Akademi president Madhav Kaushik.

Pranavjyoti Deka bagged the Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2023 under the short stories category for his book ‘Dr. Pranavjyoti Dekar Shrestha Galpa’.

In addition, Bodo author Nandeswar Daimari bagged the Sahitya Akademi Award under the short stories category for his work titled ‘Jiu-Safarni Dakhwn’. Nepali author Judhabir Rana bagged the Sahitya Akademi Award under the category of essays for his work titled ‘Nepali Loksahitya Ra Loksanskritiko Parichaya’.
